Cabling Technician

Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Cabling Technician to join our team and support the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with low-voltage cabling, strong troubleshooting skills, and a keen eye for detail. This role requires working on-site at client locations to ensure the seamless operation of network and communication systems.

$55,000 - $75,000 yearly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling for data, voice, video, and other communication systems.

  • Perform cable routing, labeling, and organization in compliance with industry standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA, BICSI).

  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with existing cabling systems, including network connectivity problems.

  • Conduct site surveys to determine cabling needs and provide recommendations for layout and materials.

  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and team members to complete installations and upgrades.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of installed systems, cable routes, and testing results.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices during installation and maintenance activities.

  • Keep workspaces clean and organized, with proper cable management practices.

  • Stay current with advancements in cabling technologies and industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in cabling installation, maintenance, or related field.

  • Familiarity with copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) and fiber optic cabling systems.

  • Proficiency in using tools such as punch-down tools, crimpers, cable testers, and OTDRs.

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., BICSI Installer, FOA Fiber Optic Technician) are a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • On-site work at various client locations, including office buildings, data centers, and industrial environments.

  • May involve exposure to heights, tight spaces, and varying weather conditions.

  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
